Indian Railways has recently issued a memorandum stating reduction in applicable free time for loading at Nayagarh (NYG) from earlier 5 hours to 3 hours.
The issued memorandum by East Cost Railways (Khurda Road Division) dated 01 Mar’17 states that Nayagarh Goods Shed is operated on ‘Engine On Load (EOL)’ i.e. the train engine remains available during loading operation and waits so as to work the train immediately after loading operation is completed.
Keeping in view the loading potential and to improve the wagon turn around it has been decided by the competent authority to notify Nayagarh Goods Shed experimentally as Goods Shed worked on ‘Engine On Load (EOL)’ up to 31 Mar’17.
The applicable free time will be 3 hrs for loading in open rake (BOXN etc). Nayagarh station has been notified as Congested Goods Shed. The instructions have come into force from 04 Mar’17 onwards and will remain valid up to 31 Mar’17 i.e. for rakes placed for loading on 31 Mar’17.
Impact on eastern India iron ore movement – Trade sources in talk with SteelMint shared that recent reduction in wagon loading time at Nayagarh siding has resulted in inconvenience as it is difficult to load a wagon in span of 3 hours. It is also resulting in cancellation of indents in case loading time is exceeding 3 hours. This has negatively impacted iron ore movement in eastern region of India.
