Private miners based in Odisha unlikely to give any discounts on iron ore lumps over the reason that many mines are still not operating (due to violation of environmental norms).
Sources told SteelMint that mines which are operational and are offering lump ore are over booked.
“We do not see any reason as to why should we cut lumps prices when we have sufficient bookings.
We also cannot increase prices as it may not be absorbed by market. Prices are likely to stay at same levelsâ€Â, said a marketing manager of one of the mines located in Barbil (Odisha).
Another senior official at one of the other mines also share the same view.
This is the reason why Iron ore Pellet prices are still high despite cheaper availability of iron ore fines.
Miners have cut iron ore fines prices last month by up to Rs 300-400 per ton on low demand from exporters and ample availability of stocks.
