In the latest round of updates received to SteelMint, the hearing for illegal iron ore mining case in the state of Odisha is in progress at Supreme Court. The case was filed by Lawyer Mr. Prashant Bhushan against the illegal iron ore mining activities in the state of Odisha.
The hearing began since last week of Feb’17 and is heard on regular basis, shared a trade source. As per sources report to SteelMint, the Supreme Court has already heard the stand of Mr. Prashant Bhushan against the Odisha iron ore miners primarily relating to excess iron ore production than granted limits and profit sharing model of the miners with the contractors.
Now the Supreme Court is hearing the stand of Odisha miners. Sources reported to SteelMint that the hearing is likely to continue further for a week or so following which Supreme Court will give its judgment.
There are chances of imposing penalty to major Odisha based merchant iron ore miners for the same.
JSPL-Sarda Mines case hearing scheduled on 06 Mar’17- As per the latest update received from a market source, JSPL’s case hearing on lifting of iron ore stocks from Sarda Mines is scheduled to take place on 06 Mar’17.
