Odisha Govt. to Auction 5 Iron Ore Blocks in Nov’15

Odisha govt. is likely to auction 12 mineral blocks in its 1st phase of e-auction next month. Out of the 12 mineral blocks, five are of iron ore, one of bauxite and remaining comprise of manganese ore, dolomite and limestone blocks.

“The DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) survey is likely to be commissioned by the end of this months. We hope that auctions of 12 identified mineral blocks would commence in November”, said Deepak Mohanty, director (mines).

The platform for the auction would be provided by Metal Scrap trade Corporation (MSTC). The state govt. has already formed a commiittee under its development commissioner UN Behera. The committee will monitor the preparatory work related to auction of major mineral concessions including conduct of DGPS survey and preparation of tender documents.

Central govt. agencies like Geological Survey of India (GSI) and Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd (MECL) are being roped in by the state to carry out exploration work of the identified mineral blocks.

82 mining blocks would be auctioned in total via 1st phase of mining auctions which is likely to start in Nov’15.
