Odisha Govt issues Notices to 26 Mines to Stop Production

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has issued closure notices to 26 mines waiting for second and subsequent renewal following the Supreme Court order on 16th of this month. According to government sources the letters has been issued on Saturday byJoda minning circle and Koida Mining Circle.

The Deputy Director of Mines of Joda circle in his letter no4519 date-17 May 2014 has issued notices to 13 mines to stop mining immediately. Similar letters has been issued by the DDM, Koidacircle to 13 mines.

The Supreme Court on Friday had ordered temporary closure of iron ore mines in Odisha working under deemed renewal. The mining industry believes the closure of mines would have heavy impact on the iron ore production in the country. As per a preliminary calculation the closure of 26 mines could mean up to 30 million tones of annual output off the market.

Joda Mining Circle (13 mines)

  1. Tata(7 mines) : Joda East iron ore mines ,Joda West Manganese mines, Khandabandha iron ore mines,Bamebari Manganese mines,Guruda Manganese mines,Manmore Manganese mines,Katamati iron ore mines
  2. SAIL : Bolani iron ore mines
  3. KJS Ahluwalia : Nuagaon iron ore mines
  4. MESCO : Roida iron ore mines
  5. K.N.Ram : Roida iron ore mines,
  6. Kalinga Mining Corporation : Jurudi iron ore mines
  7. K.P.Enterprises : Thakurani

Koida mining Circle (13 mines)

  1. AMTC : Narayanpasi and Mahulsukha iron ore mines
  2. Bonai industrial Co : Nadidihi and Teherai iron ore and Manganese mines
  3. Feegrade & Co : Rengalibeda Nadikasira iron ore mines
  4. OMM : Patamunda , Bhanjakusuma and Orahuri iron ore mines (all Manganese mines)
  5. OMC : Kurmitar pahar iron ore mines
  6. SAIL : Barsuan
  7. SAIL : Kalta mines
  8. Rungta Mines ltd.: Kolmong and Kantharkoida ( all Manganese mines)
