Odisha Govt Halts Iron Ore Dispatches of Two Major Merchant Mines – Sources

SteelMint heard from market sources that Director of Mines, Odisha has temporarily suspended iron ore dispatches from two major merchant miners in Odisha namely – KJS Ahluwalia and Kaypee Enterprises.

The reason for temporary suspension of iron ore dispatches from the mentioned mines could not be confirmed and queries made to company officials remained unanswered. 

KJS Ahluwalia and Kaypee Enterprises mines are amongst the major merchant miners in Odisha. Iron ore production of KJS Ahluwalia mines stood at 4.75 MnT in FY17 (till Dec’16).

Iron ore dispatches of KJS Ahluwalia and Kaypee Enterprises in FY17 – Iron ore dispatches (including movement for exports) from KJS Ahluwalia mines stood at 4.35 MnT in FY 17 (till Dec’16) and that of Kaypee Enterprises remained at 3.88 MnT.

Thus, the temporary suspension of iron ore dispatches from these two mines will negatively impact the iron ore availability within the state.
