Odisha Chrome Ore Production Increased By 22% in Oct’16

Production of chrome ore and chrome concentrates increased by 22.4% in Oct’16 in comparison to Sep’16.

Odisha contributes to around 98% of the total chrome ore produced in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha increased by over 22% and stood at 250,645 MT in Oct’16. In Sep’16, chrome ore production was recorded at 204,721 MT.

Captive miners in Oct’16 have increased production by more than 20% M-o-M, driven mainly by IMFA and Balasore Alloys. Production of chrome ore by merchant miners in Oct’16 increased by 23.5% M-o-M. OMC chrome ore production in Oct’16 increased by 36,470 MT M-o-M; the rise in production looks inflated as their production in Sep’16 was a mere 4,542 MT.
