NTPC Achieves highest Power Generation One- day Record

NTPC, the largest energy conglomerate of the nation has achieved its one day highest power generation record yesterday.

NTPC, India’s largest power producing company, recorded its highest electricity production yesterday with power generation of 733.12 MW. The company accomplished this record with its 18 coal based, 7 gas based, 8 solar and hydro power stations. The declared cumulative potential of the stations was 91.10% and Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 86.34% on the day.

The PSU, contributed about 25% in electricity generation of India in FY15. In the same fiscal, NTPC recorded gross generation of 241.26 BUs (stand-alone), registering a growth of 3.42%. PLFs of NTPC’s coal stations were 80.23% against national average of 64.46%.

Two stations recorded more than 90% PLF. All NTPC stations achieved Plant Availability of above 83%. Four coal stations of NTPC featured among the top 10 stations of the Country in terms of PLF in FY15.

Domestic and Imported Fuel (Coal) Supply

NTPC fulfills its major coal requirement (85-90%) through domestic supply and the rest through imports. The PSU has planned to confirm more domestic availability and reduce imports of thermal coal to zero in the next four-five years. The company had imported about 16 MnT of coal in FY15.

NTPC’s present installed capacity is 45,548 MW (including 6,196 MW through joint ventures) comprising 39 generating stations. It is also establishing a 4,000 MW imported coal-based thermal power plant in Andhra Pradesh.
