Nabha Power Limited (NPL), a subsidiary of L&T, has invited a tender for purchase of 600,000 MT imported non-coking coal at its Rajpura Thermal Power Plant, Punjab on ‘delivered to the plant’ basis.
NPL has successfully commissioned 2X700 MW Super Critical Thermal Power Plant at Rajpura, Punjab, with both units currently in operation. The efficient and dependable of power from NPL forms the backbone of power supply to the State of Punjab.
The power producer has secured coal linkage from SECL under FSA, to meet the domestic fuel requirement for its thermal plant. However, it also brought imported coal for blending with domestic coal.
During the first 9 months of FY20 (Apr-Dec’19), imports by NPL’s Rajpura plant stood 0.85 MnT, up 15% Y-o-Y from 0.74 MnT noted in the year-ago period, data provided by power ministry showed.
Under the current tender, the company has intended to acquire 300,000 MT each of 5000 and 5700 GAR coal from experienced parties for a period from 1 Apr’20 to 30 Oct’20. The price bid for the same will remain valid till 25th Oct’20.

Tender schedule (IST): The due date for submitting the bids is 10th Feb’20 till 11:00 hrs and the opening of the bids is scheduled on the same day at 11:30 hrs.
