The Rajasthan government has deferred fixed demand charges (FDC) on electricity connections for industrial units till May 31st for Mar & Apr bills.

However for a long time, the production utilization of steel industries has been marked nearly 40-50%. Currently the mills have totally suspended operations due to lock down.

There are mostly about 8 to 10 MT furnaces in Rajasthan, for which electricity load is about 3,000-5,000 KVA & the average charges reported at INR 8.5- 9.55/unit, which varies according to the load/power consumption.

Gujarat govt was the first to announce removal of FDC for a month (Apr’20). Thereafter it was temporarily suspended in Maharashtra for 3 months and on 2nd Apr’20 the Uttar Pradesh govt has suspended it for lock down period.

Also Chhattisgarh, Raipur based Steel mills have requested the government to remove FDC & minimum demand charges, however the authority is yet to take a decision on the matter.
