- JSW Steel resumes iron ore purchases
- Vizag Steel increases iron ore purchases by 5.6%
- NMDC iron ore movement to Vizag Port remains stable
- Purchases from Chhattisgarh based sponge manufacturers remains almost stable
As per the railway movement tracked by SteelMint, NMDC’s iron ore dispatches have witnessed a significant increase of 16.1% in Mar’16 as compared to Feb’16. The miner dispatched around 1.07 MnT iron ore via 280 rakes in Mar’16 as compared to 0.92 MT in Feb’16.
JSW Steel, one of the largest buyer of NMDC’s Bailadila ore, has purchased 146,380 MT iron ore via 38 rakes in Mar’16. The material purchased was for its unit named Amba River Coke. Iron ore purchases remained nill in the the past three months (Dec’15-Feb’16).
Vizag Steel, another major buyer for NMDC’s ore, increased iron ore purchases by 5.6% in Mar’15. The steelmaker procured 435,050 MT iron ore in Mar’16 as compared to 411,950 MT in Feb’16.
NMDC’s iron ore movement to Vizag Port for exports remained stable in Mar’16. The miner moved 177,100 MT iron ore via 46 rakes in Mar’16 as well as in Feb’16 to Vizag Port for exports.
Iron ore purchases from Chhattisgarh based sponge manufacturers remained almost same at 288,750 MT via 75 rakes in Mar’16 as there is subdued demand for sponge iron in the market. Purchases were at 281,050 MT in Feb’16.
