National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), the largest miner of India has witnessed an increase of 14% in iron ore railway movement during May 2015, from its Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh. The company dispatched 268 rakes (each rake carries approx 3,850 MT iron ore) during May compared to 235 rakes in April.
Significant movements were observed from JSW Steel, Dolvi and Jayaswal Neco, who loaded 30 and 18 rakes respectively. 8 rakes were supplied to Jindal Steel and Power for its Angul plant.
There were no exports for the month of April and May, as NMDC is in the process of finalizing agreement with Japanese and Korean steel mills.
NMDC had cut iron ore prices by INR 200/MT on lumps and INR 500/MT on fines in April’15, whereas kept the prices unchanged for May deliveries.
