NMDC to reduce iron ore prices for Chhattisgarh steel industries    

On March 9 (saturday), as per the directives of the Chief Minister Raman Singh, a meeting was held in the state of Chhattisgarh, in the chairmanship of Sunil Kumar-chief secretary to look into the problems of the state based steel industries.

Chhattisgarh Confederation of Indian Industries (CGCII), Chhattisgarh Sponge Iron Association, Chhattisgarh Mini Steel Plant association, Chhattisgarh Re-Rollers Mill Association and senior officials of Central PSUs like Bhilai Steel Plant, National Mineral Development Corporation, South Eastern Coalfields Limited participated in the meeting.

When put forward a demand for rationalisation of iron ore prices, NMDC Director said that the company would appoint a consultant regarding the prices of iron to be fixed for steel industries based in Chhattisgarh and also assured that steel plants would meet with adequate supply of iron ore.

The industrialists demanded supply of good quality coal from SECL,  import of scrap through ICD established in Chhattisgarh on Union government's permission, exemption of entry tax and cut in power tariff looking at global slowdown.
