- NMDC iron ore supplies to Chhattisgarh based units increased marginally by 5%.

India’s largest iron ore miner, NMDC supplied 307 rakes of iron ore from Chhattisgarh based mines in Dec’17, an increase of 50% as against supply of 204 rakes in Nov’17. Towards the end of Nov’17, NMDC had hiked iron ore prices up to 13%.
C.G. based units procurement increased by 5% in Dec’17: There was a marginal increase in procurement of NMDC iron ore by 5% from 57 rakes in Nov’17 to 60 rakes in Dec’17 by units within the state. Indian sponge iron prices hit 40 months high in the 3rd week of Dec’17 and hit INR 20,000-20,100/MT (Ex-Raipur).
Procurement by outside C.G based units increased sharply: The procurement by units outside C.G.increased by 69% to 213 rakes in Dec’17 as against 126 rakes in Nov’17. The operations at disrupted K-K railway line was heard to have restored in the first half of Dec’17 facilitating movement to outside state-based units.
RINL increased sourcing from NMDC Bailadila mines by 57% in Dec’17 to 132 rakes in Dec’17 as compared to 84 rakes in Nov’17. JSW Steel, Dolvi doubled iron ore procurement from NMDC in Dec’17 to 20 rakes in Dec’17 from 9 rakes in Nov’17. KIOCL loaded 39 iron ore rakes from NMDC in Dec’17, up by 70% M-o-M. Amid hike in steel prices, outside based steel mills raised procurement from NMDC.
Movement for exports increased by 62%: NMDC’s movement for exports increased by 62% in Dec’17 to 34 rakes as against 21 rakes in Nov’17.
