Nil customs duty extension on ferrous scrap imports to boost secondary steel sector: MRAI

  • “Nil custom duty on steel scrap imports will be a boost for the secondary steel industry along with its large user-industries like automobiles, foundries, construction, and infrastructure ,” says Mr Sanjay Mehta, President of MRAI.
  • Furthermore, “there will be incremental demand for steel through the budgetary outlay of INR 48,000 crore for 80 lakh affordable houses under PM Awas Yojna as well as 60,000 houses identified as beneficiaries in the rural and urban areas,” he added.
