Nepal sponge iron imports rise 29% m-o-m in May

Nepal’s sponge iron imports were recorded at 40,120 t in May 2022, a rise of 29% as against 31,063 t in April 2022. Demand from Nepal mills remained strong on rising melting capacities.
Billets imports fell to 54,469 t in May as against 56,236 t in April.
Wire rod imports also dropped to 9,042 t in May compared to 10,049 t in April.
