Nepal: Finished flat steel imports up 40% y-o-y in Jun’21

Nepal’s finished flat steel imports stood at 64,334 t in Jun’21, up by 40% year-on-year in comparison with 45,940 t in the year-ago period, as per customs data maintained with SteelMint.

Product-wise imports:

• HRC/plate imports by Nepal stood at 31,772 t, down by 19% y-o-y against 39,269 t in the same period last year.
• CRC imports increased by 80% y-o-y to 9,001 t against 5,010 t in Jun’20.
• India and China remained the major exporters.
• Nepal’s total flat steel imports stood at 189,142 t in Jan-Jun’21.
