The power outage issue in India due to coal shortage is affecting Nepal’s steel industry adversely, resulting in shutdown of almost all steel plants. However, despite this, steel prices remained stable due to sluggish demand. Current price of 10-20mm rebars is at around NPR 110,000/t ($900/t) on an ex-works basis, excluding VAT.
