National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has accelerated the efforts to begin coal production at its allocated Utkal D coal block.
CoalMint has learnt from its reliable sources that the essential permission including EC/FC clearances to commence operations has been received. Now, the company is planning to float a tender for appointing the MDO (Mine Developer and Operator) after May’20. At present, the process has been deferred amid lock-down.
The prospect of captive coal production has been in company’s wish list for a long-while, in order to ensure raw material security and bring down its cost of aluminium production.
NALCO has recently received the mining lease for the coal block for a period of 30 years from the Government of Odisha.
