MSPL's (Karnataka) B grade Vyasanakere Iron ore mines start production

MSPL Ltd's (one of the leading miners of the country) B grade Vyasanakere Iron Ore Mines (VIOM) located in Bellary-Hospet region in the state of Karnataka, resumed its mining operations w.e.f May 17.

It is to produce a total of 0.91 MnT of Iron ore in FY 2014 from one of its largest open cast Iron ore mines, located in 347.22 hectare area. VIOM was non operational since January 2009.

After Supreme Court, on April 18, permitted B grade mines in Karnataka to re-start operations on completion of R&R plans set by Monitoring Committee, which has been completed by MSPL and as the miner has received mining permission from Director of Mines & Geology, Karnataka Government, VIOM re-started operations.


MSPL officials told SteelMint, “Our mines resumed production 17 May onward. And now, we are happy as we have our secured source of Iron ore supply. Our material is expected to be offered through e-auction in Karnataka, around the mid of June.”
