Mongolia’s coal production falls 30% y-o-y in May

Mongolia’s coal production in May’22 stood at 1.38 mnt, down 30% y-o-y but up 3.8% m-o-m. Production fell y-o-y because exports to China fell amid stricter customs clearance at the border crossing due to COVID-19 related restrictions. On the other hand, the monthly rise in output can be attributed to the slight easing in the pandemic situation in April.
