Mongolian coal exports have been increasing this year on the back of lower domestic coal production in China, and the ban imposed by Chinese government on North Korean coal imports.

Moreover, restriction of coal imports at small ports by the Chinese government has also benefitted Mongolian exports, as the Mongolian coal is majorly supplied across the border to China via roadways.

Out of the total coal quantity in CY17, Bituminous coal exports had the major share of 29.3 MnT.
