Met Coke Offers Rise Further, Driven by Higher Coking Coal Prices

Rising Coking Coal prices have shown its impact upon Met Coke prices.

Met Coke offers from the key international region have gone up remarkably, as a consequence of the up-swinging Coking Coal prices.

The latest offer for the 64% CSR Met Coke is assessed at around USD 291.50/MT FoB China, which is up by USD 9/MT over the offer the week-ago. The recent offer for the 62% CSR Met Coke is also assessed higher by USD 15/MT, at around USD 288/MT FoB China, over that in the last week.

For Indian buyers, these offers translate to: USD 306.50/MT and USD 303/MT respectively on CFR India basis.

In response to the rising offers, Met Coke producers in India also have further raised their ex-works prices. Producers in the west coast were learnt to hike their ex-works prices by INR 500-1,500/MT.

In India, the ruling ex-works prices are: INR 21,700/MT (east coast), and INR 22,500/MT, INR 25,500 and INR 28,000/MT (west coast).

Demand in the country is at moderate level due to the ongoing monsoon season.

IMPORTS

During the 1-24July’17, around 163,750 MT of Met Coke was imported in India, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.
