Met Coke Imports into India Rise: 138% in Mar’17 M-o-M, 35.18% Y-o-Y

Met Coke imports into India increased remarkably by around 138.46% in Mar’17 in comparison with the imports in Feb’17, according to CoalMint Research. Echoing a similar tone, the imports during FY17 also surpassed the imports in the previous fiscal by 35.18%.

In Mar’17, around 0.31 MnT of Met Coke was imported into the country. In Feb’17, the imports were lower at 0.13 MnT.

On a year-on-year comparison, 4.13 MnT of Met Coke was imported into the country in FY17 against 3.06 MnT in FY16.

Among all the regions of import, Japan had accounted for the highest share in the total imports during the month; followed by Poland. Imports from these two regions have exhibited a rising trend as buyers in India looked for markets other than China, due to the imposition of Anti Dumping Duty on imports from China.

The Hazira port had handled the largest volume of import traffic during Mar’17; followed by the Krishnapatnam and Mormugao ports.
