In Jun’18, metallurgical coke imports in India fell by 20% in comparison with the imports in May’18, an analysis on the import data maintained by CoalMint Research revealed.
This substantial downslide in the country’s import volumes can be primarily attributed to the steep rise in the global import offers of the steelmaking raw material on account of the escalating coking coal prices in the international commodity markets.
In Jun’18, around 0.41 MnT of met coke was imported in India as compared to the imports of around 0.52 MnT in the preceding month.
Moreover, compared with the corresponding volumes in the same month of the last fiscal, the Jun’18 imports were also lower than the imports of around 0.45 MnT in Jun’17.
