MCL has targeted to set-up five coal washeries in Odisha, with a cumulative capacity of 120 MnT this year.
Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of CIL, is seeking participation of interested parties or firm to set-up 10 MnT pa coal washery at Jagannath area, Talcher. The washeries have to be set-up under Build, Operate and Maintenance basis (BOM) for 10 years. For this, MCL is willing to provide the capital funding and other infrastructure facilities.
Earlier, the company had planned to set up total five coal washeries in the state. Albeit, CIL was asked to set up four washeries, MCL targeted to establish five coal washeries. The first proposed coal washery was to set up at Ib Valley. For this, the company had floated a tender on 29 May’15. In addition, the company will issue more tenders for setting up more washeries at Lakhanpur (20MnT), Siarmal (40 MnT) and Gopaljee Kaniha (20 MnT) in order to achieve a total coal washery capacity of 120 MnT per year.
In FY15, MCL produced 121.3 MnT coal, in which the Talcher region was the biggest coal producing region.
Last date of tender submission is 14 Aug’15 at 17:00 hrs and opening of technical bids is 20 Aug’15 at 11 hrs.
Coal washeries are benefication plants that separate impurities from mined coal. It also minimizes the ash content from it, which is useful for power generation.
