Mangalore port has handled 698,607 Mt of imported coal in April 13 which is 67.33% more compared to March which was 417,500 Mt. Major part of the coal (83.4%) has been imported from Indonesia and rest (16.53%) from South Africa. The increased coal volume is due to majorly supporting power prices to power companies and up coming monsoon which is prompting industry to maintain inventory during same. Majorly imported coal grades are 5300 – 5400 GCV from Indonesia and RB 2 from S.Africa.
Materials are imported by 20% Perline, 19% Agrawal Coal, 14% Bhatia, 11% Magnifico and remaining from others.
Mangalore port also have seen the total despatch of 249,118 Mt. of coal to Power, Steel and other companies and around 65% Indonesian and 34.56% S.african coal. And average ex plot traded prices excluding taxes were INR 3023 for Indonesian (5300-5400 GCV), INR 5911 for S.Africa RB 1 Grade, INR 5566 for S.Africa RB 2 Grade.
