Malaysia-based Eastern Steel will install a 1.6 mnt-second slab continuous caster by early CY23. This will increase the company’s annual steel making capacity from 0.7 mnt to 2.7 mnt. The caster will process wide range of steel grades with casting speed of 2.5 meters per minute. In addition, the company is investing MYR 3 billion ($671 million) to expand its hot-rolled coil production.
