Under immense financial stress, Sanjeeev Gupta’s Liberty Steel has completed the acquisition of Polish heavy plate mill, Huta Czestochowa, as per reports. Liberty Steel has exercised its option to acquire the mill, with 840,000 t/year of crude steel capacity. Liberty sources have revealed that the Polish mill can be expected to increase production of low-carbon heavy plate products used in infrastructure projects. Steel mills in Poland are on the recovery route, thanks to stimulus measures.
