The Anthracite coal market in India continues to sustain lackluster atmosphere with buyers refraining from importing mainly due to availability of cheaper alternate fuels.
Import offers have not undergone any change from the rates assessed last. According to a reputed importer, import offers from Russia have remained at around $96/MT CFR India.
Importing tendency among Indian buyers has slackened as alternate fuels, like Petcoke and other forms of coal, became significantly cheaper in domestic as well as international markets.
IMPORTS
Imports have declined considerably due to obvious reasons. During Apr’16, a meager quantity of 71,000 MT was imported into the country, according to SteelMint Research. Bhusan Steel, Shri Kalahasti Pipes and Electrosteel were the only importers during the month under review, with the respective quantities of: 38,000 MT, 11,000 MT and 22,000 MT, SteelMint Research shows.
