Kyrgyzstan extends scrap export ban outside EAEU for another 6 months

Kyrgyzstan’s cabinet of ministers has extended its export ban on ferrous metal scrap and ferrous metal ingots for remelting for another six months, now effective until 18 Sep’25.

  • This ban applies to countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
  • The move, first imposed in Aug’24, aims to prevent raw material shortages for local steelmakers. Further extensions are possible if market conditions remain tight.
