KOSPO floats thermal coal procurement tender, Russia’s participation restricted

Korea Southern Power Co. Ltd (KOSPO) has invited bids to procure 0.16 mnt of thermal coal of 3,800-4,999 kcal/kg NAR for its Samcheok Power Plant, according to a recent notification. The bid closing date is on 20 April 2022. The firm has restricted Russian coal miners to participate in the tender. Alike several European and Asian countries, South Korea has also imposed sanctions on Russia following its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
