Korea: KOSPO Invites Tender for Purchase of 160,000 MT Coal

Korea Southern Power Co Ltd (KOSPO) has published a tender for purchase of steam coal of quantity 160,000 MT for Korean Genco’s Power Plants.

Each bidder is requested to offer 80,000MT in lots of 80,000MT plus/minus ten(10) percentages at shipping tolerance on FOBT price.

The offer given by the bidder shall be valid for the period 03 days from the date of tender closing. Although if necessary KOSPO can request the bidder to extend the validity period of the bid.

Due date: The due date for bid submission is 16 May’19 at 13:00 hrs (Korean Standard Time). The last tender of KOSPO was 80,000 MT for Samcheok power plant, South Korea which was scheduled on 03 May.

Market Overview
Seaborne metallurgical coke prices remain firm starting May. Prices for 64% CSR grade are currently assessed at USD 328/MT, FOB China. Prices are firm as Australian coking coal prices strengthen due to restrictions imposed by the Chinese government on imports in major Chinese ports in February.
