Korea: KOSEP invites Bid to purchase Coal for Korean Gencos

Korea South-East Power (KOSEP) has invited bids through two different tenders for purchase of 0.98 MnT Steam coal on FOBT basis.

KOSEP, a subsidiary of KOPECO and one of the leading power producers in (Jinju) Korea, has invited bids for two different tenders containing 420,000 MT and 560,000 MT coal respectively on FOBT basis. 

Bidders shall quote for minimum quantity of 80,000 MT (for shipment from China & Indonesia) or 140,000MT (for shipment from Australia, Canada, South Africa, USA and Colombia) or 130,000MT (for shipment from Newcastle Australia). Russain grade coal will not be accepted.

Each shipment of coal to be purchased by KOSEP should be from single mine. Henceforth, supply of coal from multiple mines shall not be allowed.

Eligibility

  • Suppliers (coal producers\marketing companies\trading companies) having experience of supplying more than 60,000 MT coal to five Korean Gencos (KOSEP, KOMIPO, KOWEPO, KOSPO, EWP) or Taiwan Power or J-Power or steel mills in Korea during recent three years are eligible to participate
  • Have contractual performance of more than 1 MnT coal supply to steel/power companies for past 3 years

The entire shipment is to be schedule from Jan, 2015 to 31 Mar, 2015.

Deadline for bid submission shall be on 13 Nov, 2014 at 11.00 hrs, as per Korean Standard Time.
