The joint survey teams appointed by the Supreme Court- today completed the first phase of the survey of 63 of 99 iron ore mines in Bellary.*-Hospet region to identify sites of illegal mining in Karnataka.
The teams, comprising officials from the departments of Mines and Geology, Forest, Revenue, Lokayukta and National Institute of Technology of Suratkal examined mining reference points and the boundary points.
They have to complete the demarcation process by June, on the basis of which CEC will submit its report to the apex court on July 4. So, the supply crunch of iron ore is expected to be intact in the coming month until the entire process in completed.
