Department of Mines & Geology (Govt. of Karnataka) has yesterday (i.e. on 04 Aug’16) issued the addendum in which it has further extended the dates for the auction of 14 ‘C’ category iron ore mine blocks.
In pursuance of the Honorable Supreme Court order dated 01 Aug’16, DMG, Karnataka has amended the notice inviting tender for auction 14 iron ore mines.
SteelMint learned from a senior official of Karnataka DMG that few owners of beneficiation plants had filed a writ petition to also allow them to participate in the mine block auctions following which the Apex Court allowed extension to Karnataka government for conducting mine block auctions.
It is to be noted that according to currently issued notice inviting tender document, only end users engaged in production of sponge iron and/or pig iron and/or steel and/or pellets will be eligible to take part in the auction. Consortium of end users are not eligible to participate in the auction. The end users will also include PSU’s.
