India’s one of the steel giants, JSW Steel has reported a marginal downfall of 1% to 3.25 MnT in its quarterly crude steel production in FY16. In Q2 FY15, the company had produced 3.30 MnT.
Shutdown of its Blast Furnaces at Vijayanagar works for relining, which is expected to re-commissioned in Dec’15, is the prime factor of fall in production.
Furthermore, a minor leakage of Blast Furnace gas in its Salem plant had led to shutdown of plant from 28 Sept’15, following a directive from the Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) for 2 weeks. On 10 Oct’15, the plant restarted on revocation of closure notice by the concerned authorities.
JSW’s cumulative crude steel production in H1 FY16 was 6.65 MnT; has witnessed a growth of 4% against H1 FY15.
