JSW Steel to Import Iron Ore Fines from Brazil

JSW Steel-India’s leading private sector steel maker is to import iron ore fines from Brazil.

In talk with SteelMint, an industry source shared that apart from concentrate JSW Steel is also importing fines from Carajas iron ore mine, Brazil and the vessel is expected to reach Indian Port by end of Jan’16. 

The steel makers’ iron ore import vessel “Nautical Dream” carrying 170,000 MT iron ore fines (about Fe 65%) from Brazil is expected to arrive at Jaigarh Port on 21 Jan’16. Prices of Brazillian (Fe 65%) fines are currently around USD 43.6/MT, CFR China.

JSW Steel has also imported 150,000 MT Brazillian concentrate at Jaigarh Port in Jan’16 via vessel named “Tiger Liaoning”.  Prior to this the company imported a vessel of 142,000 MT iron ore concentrate from Brazil in Nov’15.
