The steelmaker procured 1.59 MnT in Aug’15 through domestic market; its import remained nil.
Iron ore procurement of JSW Steel has reduced last month by 26%. The steelmaker sourced iron ore from domestic market and imported none.
Iron ore purchases from Karnataka fell by about 23% in Aug’15 to 1.32 MnT. Procurement from NMDC Chhattisgarh remained mostly stable and stood at 0.27 MnT in Aug’15. It also didn’t participate in Goa 7th iron ore e-auction held on 04 Aug’15. Purchases from Odisha and Jharkhand continued to remain nil.
Iron Ore Sourcing of JSW Steel in FY16
Unlike last fiscal, JSW Steel has significantly reduced its imports and resumed iron ore purchases from Chhattisgarh. In first five months of this fiscal the company has procured 8.5 MnT iron ore. It aims to raise its crude steel production to 13.4 MnT in FY16, which was 12.63 MnT in FY15. Its procurement in first five months of FY16 (Apr-Aug’15) is as given in the table below:
