With prolonged mining ban in Karnataka, JSW Ispat (India's 3rd largest steel producer) is forced to ship iron ore fines from Paradip (Odisha) port to its plant based in Vijayanagar (Karnataka).
“It is unusual, but due to low ocean freight and easy movement of iron ore from Barbil region to Paradip port as both comes under Odisha state it makes a viable decision.” said industry sources.
If sources are to be believed JSW Ispat has procured almost 60,000-80,000/t high grade iron fines from Odisha till now.
