JSW Steel recorded highest ever crude steel output in Jan’18 recording an yearly increase of 7%, according to its filing made in BSE.
JSW Steel’s crude steel output moved up by 7% Y-o-Y which was highest ever crude steel output in Jan’18 along with boost in long steel production by 24% Y-o-Y basis in the month of January.
JSW Steel – India’s largest steel maker recorded highest ever crude steel output in Jan’18 which stood at 1.46 MnT higher by 7% Y-o-Y basis as compared to 1.36 MnT in Jan’17.
On monthly basis the company’s crude steel output went up by 4% in Jan’18 which was at 1.41 MnT in preceding month.
Flat steel output increased 13% M-o-M in Jan’18 – JSW Steel’s flat steel output on monthly basis registered surge of 13% to 1.01 MnT against 0.89 MnT in Dec’17.
However production fell slightly by 2% to 1.01 MnT in Jan’18 which stood at 1.03 MnT in Jan ‘17.
Major Indian steelmakers had raised flat steel prices for the month of December by INR 500-1000/MT amid higher production cost.Also optimistic market sentiments compelled Indian manufacturers to raised the prices by INR 2000/MT for Jan’18.
The steel maker had reported fall in monthly flat steel production numbers in previous two months.
Long steel output up by 23% Y-o-Y basis in Jan’18- In the month of Jan’18 JSW Steel’s long steel production stood at 0.37 MnT, showed significant growth of 23% in comparison to 0.30 MnT in Jan’17.
Also on monthly basis, JSW Steel’s long steel output moved up by 12% against 0.33 MnT in Dec’17.
Major Indian steel mills have raised rebar prices couple of times in the month of Dec’17 which was heard around INR 3,000-3,500/MT. Rising raw material cost and strong export orders are the major reasons behind consequent price rise.
