JSPL to start commercial production of rebar in Angul. The company’s domestic steel production up by 9% in FY16 and by 22% on consolidated basis.
Long awaiting, JSPL’s new rebar mill with a capacity of 1.4 MnT pa in Angul (Odisha), is likely to start commercial production in Q1 FY17, as per a recent press release by the company.
The company has also recently commissioned another rebar mill of 1.4 MnT pa in overseas location, Oman and is expected to start commercial production in the current quarter.
Besides, it has also an existing finished steel capacity of 1.6 MnT in Patratu (Jharkhand). Out of these, rebar mill consists of 1 MnT and wire rod mill of 0.6 MnT.
The company recently reported Q4 FY16 performance and its rebar sales grew by 38%, crossed to 0.27 MnT as compared to previous quarter under the brand name ‘Jindal Panther’.
Operational performance
On standalone basis, there was an increase of 9% Y-o-Y to 3.5 MnT in steel production during FY16. In-line, sales volumes also rose by 14% in the same respective period.
Similarly, on a consolidated basis, there was a rise of 22% Y-o-Y to 4.5 MnT in steel production. Meanwhile, sales volume up by 29% to 4.4 MnT in the respective period.
