Steel major JSPL is looking to start mining at the brownfield Kasia iron ore block within a month after attaining approvas, Managing Director V.R. Sharma has informed. Just 17 km from JSPL’s pellet plant in Barbil, the mine has reserves of 278 mn t. JSPL aims to put up a slurry pipeline to transport 5-6 mn t of ore every year to its Angul steel plant. JSPL won the mine at the latest round of Odisha auctions for 118.10 pc premium.
