Bhubaneswar: Leading Steel maker Jindal Steel and Power is planning to start commercial production at its Angul plant from the start of the 2014-15 financial year through the DRI route. The 2 MTPA direct reduced Iron (DRI) plant of the company has been commissioned about 15 days back and is currently running on test basis, according to a senior official in the company.
Last August the company has commissioned its large Steel Melting Shop (SMS) of 1.5 MTPA capacity and 1.2 MTPA plate mill. The company is currently producing plate products, Structural products and TMT bars.
Through the plate mill the company is producing 50 thousand tone plate products per month which would be increased to 1 lakh tones per month by end of March 2014 when the full integrated system will be made operational.
