JNPT Operations come to a Standstill with Workers on strike

Jawaharlal Nehru Port, also known as Nhava Sheva, is the largest port in India located in Southern Mumbai, Maharashtra. According to the sources, the port is in halt state from 15th Oct'13 on account of labors indefinite strike on wage issues.

JNPT port imports 50,000 MT of Scrap and above 30,000 MT of Iron and Steel monthly. Therefore if the port is not operated by another week the importers will have to face a big loss. 

Metal Recycling Association of India (MRAI), an arm of Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) association will meet the port's officials tomorrow in order to convince for resuming the operations soon.
