The contract price for Australian 6000 NAR grade thermal coal between Japanese utility, Tohoku Electric and miner Glencore has been fixed at $395/t, FoB. The contract is usually signed for one year and the price is considered as a benchmark for thermal coal supplies in Asia. This is a three-fold rise against last year’s contract price of $110/t agreed upon in June 2021.
