Japan’s met coke imports surge in Jan-Nov’21 with increase in crude steel output

Japanese met coke imports has recorded a dramatic rise from 0.27 mn t in Jan-Nov’20 to 2.07 mn t in Jan-Nov’21. This rise has come in the wake of 17% y-o-y increase in the country’s crude steel production at 88.4 mn t in the first eleven months of CY’21. In addition, the country’s coking coal imports have risen by 9% y-o-y to 39.5 mn t in this period.
