Japan’s crude steel production fell by 3.9% y-o-y to 7.92 mn t in the first month of CY’21, according to the latest figures released by Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). However, the same on an m-o-m basis increased by 5.3% compared to Dec’20. The output is expected to improve further as Nippon Steel has resumed one of its blast furnaces in east Japan works in Jan’21 in response to demand recovery.
