Japan: Yamanashi Prefecture enhances regulations for industrial waste, recyclable materials

Yamanashi Prefecture’s new ordinance, effective today, mandated businesses handling metal scrap to notify the governor in advance. It enforces strict storage and disposal standards to protect the local environment, with penalties for violations.

In December, the ordinance was passed covering fertilisers, metal scrap, tires, and requiring businesses with storage areas over 100 sqm to notify the governor before operating.
