- Sixth price hike announced within March 2026
- Higher freight costs continue pushing prices upward
Tokyo Steel has raised scrap purchase prices by JPY 1,000/t ($6/t) across all plants, effective 30 Mar’26, marking its sixth revision this month. Prices have been increased to JPY 50,000/t ($313/t), while price announcements for the Takamatsu plant remain suspended. The upward revision reflects strengthening overseas market trends, higher freight costs, and geopolitical risks in the Middle East supporting prices.
